Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south in clear water. Yellow buoys mark a no-anchoring swim zone off the beach; anchor outside them on sand, where depths run from about 6 to 15 metres, and holding is good. The cove is open to the S and SW, the dominant swell directions in the gulf, so it is only tenable in settled weather or a land breeze. Watch for swimmers inside the 300 m zone in season.

Practical

Water point ashore at the beach. No fuel or services on site. Port Tino Rossi in central Ajaccio lies 2.5 nm east with full marina facilities, capitainerie on VHF 9, diesel and provisioning.

Ashore

Sandy beach of about 500 m with summer lifeguarding, backed by the Route des Sanguinaires and served by two beach paillotes; land the dinghy on the sand between them. Bus line 5 from Ajaccio stops at Barbicaja. The Îles Sanguinaires nature site lies 5 km west at the tip of the peninsula, with the Tour de la Parata Genoese tower built in 1608 and the Sanguinaires archipelago classified Natura 2000.
