Approach and anchoring

Approach between the pink granite rocks and islets of the Pleumeur-Bodou archipelago. Strong tidal streams and drying rocks around the bay, so navigate at mid to high water. The final run in is narrow and needs care, with a sandbank extending to the north and mooring buoys lying in the channel. Sand bottom, with one or two visitor buoys usually free carrying about 2 m at low water. Boats lie to the stream, which sets roughly west to east. Open to the west, though the swell does not work in, and sheltered from N through E and from the south.

Practical

Water point on shore. No other services. Trébeurden marina is the nearest full harbour; Port Saint-Sauveur at Trégastel, 1.3 NM to the south-west, also has fuel and provisioning. Landrellec village 0.6 NM east for bakery and small shops. The Toul-Gwen anchorage lies immediately adjacent.

Ashore

Sentier des douaniers GR34 runs along the shore. Île Grande causeway accessible at low water, with the LPO seabird reserve and ornithology station. Radôme and Cité des télécoms at Pleumeur-Bodou 3 km inland.
