Deep bay west of Calvi, between the Pointe de la Revellata and the citadel. Used as an alternative to Calvi harbour, with clear water over sand and Posidonia meadows.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the N or NE after rounding the Revellata light, which stands on the Stareso oceanographic station. Drop on the wide sand strip mid-bay in 3 to 8 m, avoiding the protected Posidonia patches visible as dark zones. Holding is firm and boats have lain here through 40 knots from the W and SW, the best shelter in the area from that quarter, but the bay turns uncomfortable in N to NE winds. Calvi harbour 1.3 NM E if the wind shifts.

Ashore

Plage de l'Alga at the head of the bay, small and rocky. Footpath along the cape to the Revellata lighthouse and the Stareso station, run by the University of Liège since 1972. Calvi citadel and shops a 30 minute walk east along the coast, or a short dinghy ride across to Calvi marina for provisioning. There are no facilities, bins or shops at the anchorage itself.
