Approach and anchoring

Inland waterway on the canal des Vosges north of Épinal. Approach the lock at slow speed. Mooring along the banks is not authorised, but there is a concrete quay by the lock carrying about 2 metres where VNF staff will show visitors where to lie, useful for boats too deep for the shallow 1.6 metre channel up to the Épinal marina. Follow VNF signage and the lock-keeper's instructions.

Practical

No services at the quay itself. Restaurants are within walking distance and a bakery about 1 km off; showers can be had at the Germain Creuse municipal pool 2.5 km away. A taxi into Épinal runs about 20 euros one way, with buses on weekdays. Port de plaisance d'Épinal at 1.4 NM south for overnight mooring, water and electricity, though the approach channel carries only about 1.6 m. Lock n°9 waiting area at 0.8 NM SW as the next stop on the canal.
