Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the SW into the Golfe du Valinco, which opens westwards between Campomoro to the S and Capu di Muru to the N. Anchor on sand in 3 to 6 metres, 150 m off the beach. The cove is small and shallow, so favour its deepest part towards the campsite and watch for slippery submerged rocks on approach. Shelter holds from N and NE, but cover from NW is unreliable and swell works in, so it best suits a settled day-stop and a keelboat is safer at Porto Pollo. Exposed to the libeccio from the SW.
Practical
Port de Propriano 1.6 nm to the SE with 430 berths, diesel, water, electricity and shops. Porto Pollo 3.8 nm to the W for a smaller marina and anchorages. Beach bar and camping directly behind the sand strip in summer.
Ashore
Plage d'Aglio runs 600 m of fine sand with pine cover behind. Sentier du littoral along the north shore of the gulf towards Capu Laurosu lagoon and the mouth of the Rizzanese river, 2 km to the SE. Prehistoric site of Filitosa, one of the major Bronze Age megalithic sites of Corsica, 12 km inland from Propriano.
