Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south-west across the Golfe de Valinco. Anchor on the pale sand in the middle of the bay, about 200 m off the long beach, in 5 to 7 metres, where holding is good; a darker, more compact sand and weed patch closer inshore will not hold, and posidonia stands proud of the sand near the usual marker. Gusts funnel down the valley and a west swell rolls in, so for a quieter night the anchorage 1.5 NM south off Portigliolo beach is better. Port de Propriano lies 0.6 NM SW as a refuge.
Practical
Mooring forain with no services on site. The harbour office at Propriano lets visitors leave the dinghy in front of the capitainerie to reach the town. A service station about 300 m behind the beach sells basic groceries, gas bottles and drinking water. Shops, water and fuel are at Propriano marina, and a large Auchan with a self-service launderette is about 20 minutes' walk up the hill.
Ashore
Plage de Baracci runs along the head of the bay. Sulphur hot springs of Baracci behind the beach at about 600 m. Propriano town centre and market at 1.2 km by the coast road.
