Marina of around 800 berths on the Crozon peninsula, sheltered behind the Sillon gravel spit at the entrance of the Brest roadstead.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Iroise Sea leaving the Pointe du Toulinguet to the north, then the Sillon spit to port. Breakwater head lit, maximum draught 6 m at the visitors pontoon. The outer floating pontoon is exposed and rolls quickly with wind or swell, so ask for an inner pontoon or a berth in the Notic basin for a quieter, better sheltered mooring. Exposed to NE winds when blowing hard. VHF 9, capitainerie open year-round.

Practical

Around 800 berths across Port Vauban and the Notic basin, water and electricity, diesel at the self-service fuel berth. Boatyard with travel hoist and winter storage on hard. The sanitary facilities are long outdated, with a renovation under way over the winter of 2025 to 2026 and a temporary container block in use. Berthing is dear for what is offered, about 28 euros a night for a boat under 9 m. Loan bikes are available but run out early. The chandlery now works from a temporary container after a fire, and the Super U is about 500 m, a 10 to 20 minute walk.

Ashore

Tour Vauban at the tip of the Sillon, built in 1696 by the military engineer Vauban and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008, stands 100 m from the pontoons. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Rocamadour, protector of sailors, sits by the harbour. Alignements de Lagatjar megalithic stones lie 1.5 km west. The GR34 coastal path leads to the Pointe de Pen-Hir cliffs in 3 km and to the Fort du Petit Gouin above the town.

History

Camaret was the site of a Franco-English naval battle in June 1694 where the Vauban tower repelled an Anglo-Dutch landing, and it later became the first European langoustine port in the 1950s.
