Approach and anchoring

Enter from the SE, a short mile west of the Cavalaire harbour entrance. Stay outside the swim line marked by yellow buoys from 15 June to 15 September. The cove is open to the south and rolls readily, even in a light SW wind or swell wrapping round Cap Lardier. Holding is good on the sand off the beach in 4 to 8 metres, but the ground away from the beach front is rocky, so drop on the sand only. A smaller cove alongside takes one or two boats.

Practical

No services in the cove. Cavalaire-sur-Mer marina lies 0.8 NM NE with 1200 berths, fuel, water and chandlery. Le Lavandou harbour sits 6.7 NM W as a fallback in strong easterlies.

Ashore

Beach restaurant open in season directly behind the sand. Coastal path to Cap Lardier, entry to the Domaine du Rayol and the Cap Lardier section of the Parc national de Port-Cros, about 1.5 km west on foot. Cavalaire village centre with market and shops is a 20-minute walk along the coastal road.

History

The Cap Lardier headland east of the cove was classified by the Conservatoire du littoral in 1977 and attached to the Parc national de Port-Cros in 2012, protecting 390 hectares of Mediterranean coastline from development.
