Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from seaward with no off-lying dangers in the bay. Mooring buoys lie off the beach, some private or reserved by the beach restaurants and conical buoys taking boats up to 16 m, with room to anchor on sand between and outside them in 4 to 8 m; holding is generally good. Watch the bottom in 4 to 5 m, where mooring blocks, concrete bases and a protruding metal rod with a small yellow buoy can foul ground tackle, so keep off the beach line. Sheltered from the mistral from the west but open to the east, and it rolls in any E or SE swell, badly when a strong mistral sends swell round Cap Negre. Keep clear of the swim zone marked by yellow buoys 300 m off from 15 June to 15 September. No night lighting.
Practical
A paying buoy or an anchorage on sand, with no services. Le Lavandou harbour lies 3.5 NM west for fuel, water and provisions, Cavalaire 4 NM east. A small Proxi supermarket with bread is about 500 m away, a 10 minute walk. Land by paddle or pedalo only, as engines are banned inside the swim zone.
Ashore
Sand beach in front of the anchorage. Beach restaurants line the shore, among them Tamaris Beach, which keeps a buoy for lunch guests and runs a pedalo out to it, as well as Akwabo and the Cafe de la Plage. A path reaches the coast road along the reeds beside the private beach, with shops at the Pramousquier and Cavaliere hamlets. The GR 51 coastal path runs behind the beach toward Cap Negre.
