Approach and anchoring
Open approach from the east; the island lies 2.5 NM off. Anchoring is banned within a zone around the island from 1 March to 31 July, enforced by the gendarmerie maritime. Coming from the north, keep clear of the floating shellfish farms. Sheltered only from W, SW and S, and rolly once the wind or swell goes N or E; the beach is steep pebble, hard on a dinghy. Nearest refuges Piriac-sur-Mer 3.5 NM SE and Port de Lérat 4.4 NM SE. Île Dumet is a classified ornithological reserve, landing regulated.
Ashore
When landing is allowed, keep to the marked path across the island; the old fort is closed to the public. The island is a bird reserve, so movement ashore is restricted.
