Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west through charted channels. Extensive oyster tables and drying sand banks surround the area, stay in marked water near low water. Sand bottom, exposed to winds from W and NW. Local knowledge useful on first visit.
Practical
Moorings on buoys managed by the commune of Mesquer, with only about two set aside for visitors, which may already be taken. This is a small drying harbour better suited to shoal craft up to about 8 metres. No pontoon, so a tender is needed to reach the shore at Kercabellec or Quimiac. Water tap and a few shops at Kercabellec 1.2 nautical miles east. Full services at Piriac-sur-Mer 2.5 nautical miles to the south-west.
Ashore
Salt marshes of the Pays de Guérande begin immediately inland, with working salt pans visible from the GR34 coastal path. Oyster producers at Kercabellec sell direct from the farm. Medieval walled village of Piriac-sur-Mer to the south-west.
