Anchorage in Worton Creek, a sheltered tributary on the eastern shore of the upper Chesapeake Bay in Kent County, Maryland.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
The creek mouth lies about 1.5 miles in from the Bay, north of Fairlee Creek and south of Still Pond Creek. The approach is clear apart from crab pots. There is deep water and good holding in sand off the north shore near the Red 2 mark; further in, behind the spit, lies a wide pool with room to anchor. Shelter runs from north through south-east.
Practical
Worton Creek Marina, about 1.2 miles up the creek, has 280 berths on floating docks for boats up to 50 feet, a fuel berth with diesel and petrol, a pump-out and a ship's store with a restaurant. Green Point Landing Marina is around 0.8 miles south.
Story
On a busy summer weekend Worton Creek can hold more than 50 boats at anchor.
