Approach and anchoring

Deep water carries up the Sheepscot to the town landing. The mooring field off the landing holds about 115 private moorings set by the harbourmaster. Three deep-water public moorings are let at one dollar per foot. Anchoring beyond 7 days needs the harbourmaster's permission and is capped at 14 days a year.

Practical

Fresh water is available at the town landing. The Wiscasset Yacht Club float gives side-tie space for loading and landing crew. Ocean Point Marina lies 8.6 miles SE for fuel and further services.

History

Wiscasset shipped lumber and coal from the late 1600s onward. From 1932 the four-masted schooners Hesper and Luther Little lay grounded off the town landing. They became a landmark for Route 1 traffic until the weather reduced them to debris, cleared in 1998.
