Temporary anchorage in the southern reach of Plymouth Bay, Massachusetts, off Warren Avenue between Plymouth Beach and Rocky Point.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Plymouth Bay. The bay carries deep water of about 35 feet in the channels west of the old fort, but much of it is rolling mud flat with as little as 6 inches at low water, so a careful eye on the chart and depth sounder is needed before dropping the hook.
Practical
Open anchorage with no facilities on the cove itself. Holding is on sand and weed. Safe Harbor Plymouth lies 2 miles west with fuel, berths and provisions; Taylor Marine sits about 8 miles north.
Ashore
The cove fronts a residential stretch of Warren Avenue with no public landing. Plymouth town centre, with the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock waterfront, is reached by tender or by road from the marinas around 2 miles west.
