Approach and anchoring
Turn Island lies about 900 ft off the east coast of San Juan Island. The state park maintains a small number of mooring buoys. The bottom is rock, so picking up a buoy is preferable to anchoring. Sheltered from NE, E and SE winds. A reef extends from the cove on the west side. Shipyard Cove Marina lies 1.1 miles W.
Ashore
Turn Island is a marine state park with walk-in campsites and a perimeter trail through Douglas fir forest. The island is part of the San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge, with seals and nesting seabirds along the shoreline.
