Approach and anchoring
Two approaches to Deer Harbor: from the south-west via North Pass, or from the south-east via Pole Pass, a 50-yard-wide marked channel between Crane and Orcas Islands. Pole Pass is deep but a no-wake zone, with current up to 2 knots on spring tides. Call the harbour master on VHF 78A on arrival.
Practical
Berths for resident and visitor boats, slipway, heads and showers. Kayak storage on site. Tel 360 622 6237. Deer Harbor village is the second marina hub of Orcas Island after West Sound.
Ashore
Deer Harbor Estuary and kayak launch nearby. Deer Harbor Inn restaurant and general store within 400 m. Trailheads into Turtleback Mountain Preserve start 3 km north-east by road.
