Approach and anchoring

Enter the bay from the W between Punta di Campomoru to the N and the headland of Tizzano to the S. Anchor in 3 to 8 metres on sand and weed, seek sand patches. Shelter from NW, N, NE and E. Open to W and SW swell. Small craft can go alongside the fishing jetty if space allows.

Practical

Water available on the quay. No fuel, no electricity on pontoon. Small village with a bakery, two or three restaurants, one grocery. Propriano 8.5 NM N for full marina services.

Ashore

Genoese tower of Tizzano on the headland, 16th century, short walk from the harbour. Plage de Tralicetu about 2 km S by coastal path. Sartène, the most Corsican of Corsican towns according to Prosper Merimee, at 18 km by road.

History

Tizzano was a Genoese lookout post against Barbary raids. The watchtower dates from 1570 and is part of the coastal defensive network built along the Corsican shores.
