Approach and anchoring
Approach from the main San Diego Bay channel and turn west into America's Cup Harbour between Shelter Island and the Point Loma shoreline. The basin is well sheltered and dredged for deep-draught yachts.
Practical
Berths for boats up to 80 feet, fuel berth, on-site boat repair. Pizza Nova and Jimmy's restaurants at the head of the docks. Ralph's supermarket within a five-minute walk, West Marine chandlery on the same street.
Ashore
Liberty Station, the former Naval Training Center turned arts and food district, at roughly 1 km north on foot. Cabrillo National Monument on the tip of Point Loma at 8 km, with a 1854 lighthouse and views over the Pacific.
History
The marina dates from 1933. The basin was renamed America's Cup Harbour in 1994 in advance of the 1995 America's Cup, which was held in San Diego waters. Sun Harbor received LEED certification after a full overhaul in 2005.
