Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from New York Harbour through the channel along the west side of Liberty Island. A marked security zone of roughly 200 yards rings Liberty Island and Ellis Island, where anchoring is prohibited. The basin is open to the south-east and to the wash of constant ferry and ship traffic, so expect a rolly night.
Practical
Free anchorage with no facilities. Holding in mud. Liberty Landing Marina lies 1.3 miles north along the Morris Canal with berths, a fuel berth and showers. Hudson Point Marina is 1.4 miles north.
Ashore
Liberty State Park borders the anchorage, with the Liberty Science Center and waterfront paths. Ferries from Liberty Landing run to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Lower Manhattan.
