Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Hudson off northeast Hoboken, between 11th and 14th Streets. The river runs strong on both ebb and flood, so time arrivals near slack water where possible. Watch for heavy commercial and ferry traffic in the channel; cross wakes carefully on the approach.
Practical
About 160 berths for transient and seasonal boats, taking vessels up to 160 feet. Petrol available on site. Manhattan is minutes away by ferry, bus or train from Hoboken.
History
The site opened in 1893 as the North River Iron Works, building steam engines for boats. Bethlehem Steel bought it in 1938 and the yard built Liberty Ships here during the Second World War.
