Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchorage lies off Liberty State Park, close to the Morris Canal channel. The holding ground has shallow and rocky patches, so sound the area and plan to enter and leave near high water. The bay is sheltered from N through W to S but open to the wash of harbour traffic.
Practical
No facilities on site. Liberty Landing Marina is 0.5 nm NW with fuel, water and visitor berths, and Hudson Point Marina lies just beyond. The marina runs a ferry to Lower Manhattan.
History
Ellis Island was the main United States immigration station from 1892 to 1954, where roughly twelve million arrivals were processed before continuing into New York. The site is now part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument.
