Approach and anchoring
Enter Lorain harbour east of the Lorain Lighthouse, head up the Black River and pass under the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge. The marina is on the east bank at 485 California Avenue. 20 feet of water dockside.
Practical
402 berths for boats up to 60 feet, water and shore power. On-site restaurant, coffee shop, picnic areas, heads and swimming pool. Winter storage available.
Ashore
Black River Landing event venue and the Lorain Palace Theater are within 1 km in downtown Lorain. Lorain Harbor Lighthouse, on the breakwater at the river mouth, was built in 1917 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
History
The Charles Berry Bascule Bridge, built in 1940 as the Erie Avenue Bridge, was the largest bascule bridge in the world at the time of its construction. It was renamed in 1988 for a Lorain native awarded the Medal of Honor on Iwo Jima.
