Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchor in 3 to 8 metres on sand, keeping clear of the shoal in the south-west corner. The cove is well protected from south-west through north-west, but exposed to easterly winds. At weekends swinging room is tight, so a shore line may be needed.
Practical
No facilities on the island. Plattsburgh Boat Basin lies 4.7 nm to the north with fuel, pump-out and a marine store; Treadwell Bay Marina is 7.5 nm to the north.
Ashore
Valcour Island is state land with a perimeter trail and beaches around the shoreline. The waters between the island and the mainland were the site of the Battle of Valcour Island, fought in October 1776 during the American War of Independence.
