Anchorage on the New York shore of Lake Champlain, north of Plattsburgh, with a sand bottom and shelter from every quarter.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach across open lake water. The bottom is sand and holding is reliable once the anchor sets. Wind can build over the wide fetch of Lake Champlain, so allow plenty of swinging room.

Practical

Mooney Bay Marina lies 1.2 miles to the north-east and Treadwell Bay Marina 1.9 miles to the south-west, both with fuel and full service when in season from May to October.
