Approach and anchoring
The harbour has a wide, deep entrance below the Dyce Head Lighthouse. The mooring is sheltered from the north-east round to the west, open to the north. Adjacent anchorages lie in Smith Cove with depths of 17 to 58 feet.
Practical
Castine town dock is 1.8 miles north-west, with fuel, fresh water, pump-out and a chandlery; floats run from 15 May to 15 October. Eaton's Boatyard also serves the harbour. Reach the harbourmaster on 207 266 7711.
History
Castine is one of the oldest settlements in North America and changed hands between French, Dutch, British and American control over its first two centuries.
