Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south between Punta di u Cappiciolu and Capo di Feno. Good shelter from west and northwest winds but fully exposed to easterlies and the levante swell. Reported depths allow a maximum draught of 4 m inside the bay.
Practical
Around 6 berths or mooring buoys close to the southern shore. No fuel berth on site. Bonifacio marina, 2.9 nm west by sea, handles refuelling, repairs and provisioning.
Ashore
Sand beaches of Maora and Balistra on the bay shore, both reachable by tender. The old town of Bonifacio on its limestone cliffs lies around 6 km by road.
History
The bay has served as a sheltered roadstead for boats waiting to enter the strait of Bonifacio since antiquity, on the crossing route between Corsica and Sardinia.
