Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter by heading for buoy 2, then follow buoys 4 and 6 into the outer cove. Holding is good on a sand bottom in about 12 ft near buoy 6, shoaling to 8 ft towards the shore. The cove is protected from NW round to SE; only a northerly through easterly fetch reaches in. Many private moorings inside, no public moorings.
Practical
No fuel, water or provisions at the cove. Carry supplies aboard. Bristol Yacht Club and Bristol Marine lie about 3 miles to the NE for fuel and chandlery.
Ashore
Land by tender to reach the Narragansett Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, which covers most of Prudence Island with more than 13 miles of trails. The Pine Hill Trail is a 1.1 mile loop with a bay overlook. Ticks are common, so cover up on the trails.
