Approach and anchoring
A natural channel with depths of 19 to 25 ft runs on each side of Hog Island. The anchorage off the island has soft bottom; shelter is mainly from the south, with exposure on the other points. Hog Island Shoal Lighthouse, a cast-iron tower off the south end, marks the shoals.
