Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west passing south of the Pointe Saint-Gildas. Drying harbour on the rocky shore, access limited to around high water for most draughts. VHF channel 19 for the harbour office. Swell can build rapidly with winds from W to SW.

Practical

288 berths including visitor places. Harbour office on the quay. Water and electricity on the pontoons. Slipway for trailerable boats. Shops and restaurants in Préfailles village 500 m above the port.

Ashore

Sentier des douaniers GR 34 passes directly above the port, leading east to Pornic in about 12 km or west around the Pointe Saint-Gildas. Beach of Port-Meleu at 400 m on foot. Lighthouse of the Pointe Saint-Gildas, built in 1948, marks the south entrance of the Loire estuary 1 km to the west.
