Sand and mud bottom. Shelter from the N, NW and NE sectors, exposed to the SW which brings the dominant Bay of Biscay swell. Port de Pornic 0.3 nm NW, Port de Gourmalon 0.4 nm N.
Practical
Water available ashore. Full services at Port de Pornic marina to the NW. Town centre at the old port, with market on Sunday morning, SNCF station 800 m from the harbour.
History
Pornic has been a fishing and trading port since the Middle Ages. The Château de Pornic, rebuilt in the 13th and 14th centuries on an earlier site, overlooks the old harbour.
