Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west across the Baie de Bourgneuf. Channel buoyed into the Gourmalon cove on the south side of Pornic. Access controlled by a tidal gate, open roughly 3 hours either side of high water.
Practical
350 berths with water and electricity. Fuel pontoon with diesel and petrol. Sanitary block with showers. Shipyard with 27 t travel lift. Shops and restaurants on the Quai Leray in Pornic within 400 m.
Ashore
Sentier des douaniers GR34 passes the port, heading west along the rocky coast to the Pointe de Gourmalon and the plage de la Source at 600 m. Château de Pornic on its granite rock at 400 m. Market on Thursday and Sunday mornings on Place du Môle.
History
Pornic is a medieval fishing port. The Château de Pornic, dated from the 13th century and rebuilt in the 14th, belonged to Gilles de Rais, marshal of France and companion of Joan of Arc, until his execution in 1440.
