Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Baie de Quiberon in the lee of the peninsula. Entrance marked by red and green lateral buoys and a green pierhead light. Sheltered from westerly winds by the peninsula but exposed to easterlies. Fuel berth at the entrance. VHF 9 for the harbour office. Max draught 3 m.
Practical
1300 berths across two basins, old harbour and new marina extension completed in 2020. Diesel and petrol at the fuel berth. Water and electricity on pontoons. Showers, toilets, laundry, chandlery, sail repair. Restaurants on the quay. Supermarket 700 m, Quiberon town centre 2 km by bus or bike.
Ashore
Cote Sauvage cliff path on the west side of the peninsula, 2 km across the isthmus, with surf beaches at Port Bara and Port Blanc. Quiberon fish market on Quai de l'Ocean, 2 km. Ferry terminal for Belle-Ile at Port Maria, 1.5 km SW.
History
Port-Haliguen was a tuna fishing harbour from the 19th century, with a stone jetty built in 1856. The marina was developed from the 1960s onwards as part of the Baie de Quiberon yachting basin, which hosts the Spi Ouest-France regatta each spring and the Trophee BPGO.
