Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open approach on the lake, no tide. Lac de Vassivière is a 1000 ha reservoir built in 1950 for the Maulde hydro scheme. Water level may drop by several metres in late autumn when the dam is drawn down.
Practical
Wooden pontoon with a handful of places, mostly for small sailing boats and dinghies. No fuel or chandlery. Port de Vauveix 0.9 NM to the east and Auphelle 1.7 NM to the NW have more services.
Ashore
Île de Vassivière 500 m offshore with the Centre international d'art et du paysage, open-air sculpture trail and lighthouse. Sentier du tour du lac, 27 km waymarked path, runs past the port.
