Approach and anchoring
Approach through the channels of the southern Bassin d'Arcachon, marked by lateral beacons. The port dries at low water on spring tides. Enter around half tide on the rising flood. Strong cross currents on the main basin channels.
Practical
Oyster and pleasure port mixing professional and leisure berths. Dry port 0.4 NM to the north for winter storage. L'Aiguillon basin 0.6 NM to the north for further pleasure berths. Shops and market in La Teste town centre 1 km from the port.
Ashore
Dune du Pilat 10 km to the west by road, tallest sand dune in Europe at 102 m. Oyster huts along the canal in La Teste serving local oysters from the Bassin d'Arcachon. Forêt domaniale de La Teste to the south.
