Tidal harbour on the right bank of the Lay estuary, on the north side of the Baie de l'Aiguillon, in the Vendée.

Approach and anchoring
Tidal access via the Lay channel, entered from the south between the Pointe d'Arçay sand spit and the Pointe de l'Aiguillon. The bar shifts and the channel is marked by buoys that are repositioned each season by the DDTM. Enter between HW minus 2 and HW. Strong ebb stream against westerly swell on the bar. The estuary dries at low water.
Practical
Pontoon and quay berths operated by the commune. Water and electricity on the pontoons. Fishing fleet sharing the quays. Shops, bakeries and a supermarket in the village of L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer within 500 m. Nearest refuges are La Faute-sur-Mer 0.7 NM south on the opposite bank of the Lay, and Port du Pavé at Charron 7.6 NM east.
Ashore
Mussel farms of the Baie de l'Aiguillon are part of the Natura 2000 area and a classified national nature reserve for birdlife. Beaches of La Faute-sur-Mer on the south bank, reached by the road bridge 1 km away. Cycle path along the former Lay dyke to Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm.
