Approach and anchoring

Access from the Mediterranean via the sea mouth at Palavas-les-Flots, then 4 km up the Lez by the marked channel. Maximum draught 1.45 m. Fixed bridges downstream of the port limit air draught, mast stepping required. No tide.

Practical

100 berths alongside concrete pontoons. Water and electricity at each berth. Sanitary block with showers. Supermarket, bakeries and restaurants of Lattes within 400 m. Tram line 3 to Montpellier centre at 600 m, journey time about 20 minutes.

Ashore

Site archéologique Lattara and Musée Henri Prades at 700 m, covering the Etruscan and Gallic trading port from the 6th century BC. Place de la Comédie in Montpellier reachable by tram. Étang du Méjean nature reserve at 2 km, flamingo observation point.

History

Lattes stands on the ancient port of Lattara, an Iron Age trading settlement active between the 6th century BC and the 3rd century AD, excavated since the 1960s.
