Approach and anchoring

Approach from the north-west keeping clear of the rocky shoals off the Plantier point. Mud holding. Exposed to winds from north through east, sheltered from the south-westerly prevailing flow. VHF 72.

Practical

Local moorings are mostly private. Noirmoutier-en-L'île harbour lies 1.4 NM to the south-west via the Etier channel, which dries and requires tidal planning. L'Herbaudière marina on the west coast is 3.2 NM by sea, all-tide access.

Ashore

Noirmoutier castle and the Saint-Philbert church are a 25 minute walk south through the town. Souzeaux beach sits directly above the anchorage. Salt marshes and the Bois de la Chaise oak wood reach the cliffs east of the anchorage.
