Approach and anchoring
Sheltered from W, SW and S by the island. Open to the north and east. Sand bottom. The Pertuis d'Antioche runs north-south off the anchorage with strong tidal streams. Keep a safe distance from Fort Boyard and its rocky base to the east.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no facilities. Tender landing on the beach. Boyardville 1.7 NM to the SE with marina, fuel, water, shops and restaurants.
Ashore
Forêt domaniale des Saumonards, 855 hectares of maritime pines, with marked paths leading to Boyardville and to Saint-Georges-d'Oléron. Cycle route on the forest track running the length of the island. Fort Boyard is visible from the beach, 3 km offshore, built between 1804 and 1866.
