Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east or north-east. Sand bottom. The anchorage is protected from the W and SW sector only: clear out if the wind backs into the east. Hold off the beach and sound carefully toward the shore. Port-Tudy is 1.2 NM to the west for shelter.
Ashore
Plage des Grands Sables is the only convex beach in Europe, shifting its shape each year with the currents. The sand is made of fragments of shells and quartz. Coastal path GR 34 runs along the top of the beach. Locmaria village about 1.5 km inland for a bar and bakery.
