Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Golfe de Saint-Florent, rounding Punta Mortella if coming from the north-east. Sand bottom close in, good holding in settled weather. Fully exposed to the libeccio from SW and to swell from S and SE, untenable in those conditions. Anchor outside the swimming buoys set from June to September.
Practical
Mouillage forain, no facilities ashore. No road access to the beach, only a coastal track used by hikers and 4x4 shuttles from Saint-Florent. Water and provisions at Saint-Florent, 7.3 nautical miles to the south-east.
Ashore
The Sentier des Douaniers, the old customs officers' path, links Plage de Traves to Plage du Loto at 1.5 km north and to Plage de Saleccia at around 4 km. The whole Agriates shoreline is managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral as a protected natural area.
History
The Agriates was cultivated by Cap Corse farmers until the early 20th century. The drystone paillers used to store grain still stand in the maquis inland from the beach.
