Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north out of the Raz Blanchard tidal stream, which runs very hard off Cap de la Hague a few miles to the west. Stand off the rocks of the Pointe Jardeheu and the drying ledges along the shore. The anchorage is open to SE, S and SW winds, so only suitable in northerly quadrant weather.
Practical
Anchor on sand patches, avoiding weed and rock. Holding is uncertain where the bottom is weed or rock, so sight the set. No services on the beach. Port Chantereyne at Cherbourg-en-Cotentin lies 4.7 nautical miles to the SE and Querqueville harbour is 2.1 miles east.
Ashore
Sandy beach of Urville-Nacqueville backed by dunes. The Château de Nacqueville, a 16th century manor with gardens open to visitors in season, lies inland from the beach. Sentier des douaniers coastal path runs along the cliffs.
