- Type
- Harbour
Membership yacht club founded in 1934 on the west shore of a tidal basin of the Connecticut River, between Essex and Deep River.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
The basin carries only 2 to 4 feet at low water, so deep-draught keelboats should sound their way in. The clubhouse sits about 10 miles upriver from Long Island Sound, across from Brockway Island and Hamburg Cove.
Practical
Seasonal club, commissioned from May to September. The Pettipaug Sailing Academy runs a US Sailing junior programme for ages 8 to 18, with around 100 sailors, plus a two-day powerboat course open to the public. Pettipaug Scullers caters for rowing.
