Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom, sheltered from most directions by the surrounding land. Depths are shallow over the flats nearby, around 2 to 4 feet at mid to high tide, so favour a rising tide and stay clear of the marked channel.
Ashore
Oleta River State Park lies on the river and offers mangrove paddling trails, a swimming beach and rental kayaks and paddleboards. Haulover Park, with its marina and ocean beach, is just under a mile to the north-east.
Story
Just inside Haulover Inlet, the Haulover sandbar draws rafts of boats at weekends, with ankle to waist deep water over the flats.
