Anchorage off Bal Harbour at the north end of Biscayne Bay, near Baker's Haulover Inlet, Florida, sand bottom.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Lying inside Baker's Haulover Inlet, a man-made channel cut in 1925 between Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles. The inlet runs strong, with currents reported up to 4 to 6 knots, so plan the passage and anchoring around the stream. Holding is on sand, with shelter from east and south-east only, leaving the spot open to other quarters.
Practical
Bal Harbour Marina lies 0.2 miles to the south-east and Bill Bird Marina, in Haulover Park, 0.6 miles to the north-east. Bill Bird has no transient berths, so call ahead. The sand bottom holds well once the anchor is set.
