Marina at Fort Monroe on Old Point Comfort, Hampton, Virginia, on the north shore of Hampton Roads where the Chesapeake Bay meets the harbour.

Approach and anchoring

The marina lies just inside Old Point Comfort, marked by the 1802 lighthouse. Approach from Hampton Roads or down the Chesapeake Bay. All berths are floating pontoons, with capacity for over 300 boats up to about 50ft.

Practical

Transient and resident berths, 30 and 50-amp shore power, fresh water and Wi-Fi. Petrol and diesel at the fuel berth, pump-out, laundry and private showers. A 6-ton lift handles small craft, plus a ships store and the Deadrise seafood restaurant.

Ashore

Fort Monroe National Monument surrounds the marina, a stone fort completed in 1834 and now open to walk. The Old Point Comfort lighthouse and the Casemate Museum are within the fort grounds.

History

Old Point Comfort was named by Jamestown colonists in 1607 for the sheltered anchorage it gave them. Fort Monroe was held by Union forces throughout the Civil War and became a refuge for people escaping slavery.
