Approach and anchoring
On the Hampton River, reached from Hampton Roads harbour. Customs House Marina lies 0.2 miles north and Bluewater Yachting Center 0.2 miles to the south-east.
Practical
Member berths and a clubhouse on the river. Reciprocal access for visiting club members is usual; contact the club ahead. Downtown Hampton shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
History
The club was formed in 1926 by six members who took over the property of the earlier Virginia Yacht Club, itself founded in 1903. Many founders were engineers from the Newport News shipyard and the institution that became NASA. The club has hosted powerboat racing on the Hampton River since the 1930s.
