Member sailing club on the west bank of the Hudson River at Nyack, New York, between the Tappan Zee Bridge and Hook Mountain.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach on the tidal Hudson; the river runs with flood and ebb here. The club holds a mooring field for around 150 boats with day and evening launch service. Six guest moorings serve transients heading up or down the river.
Practical
Visiting yachts pick up a guest mooring rather than lying alongside. Launch service ferries crews ashore. Winter boat storage is offered to members.
Ashore
The village of Nyack, with shops and restaurants, is a short walk from the club site on Gedney Street. Hook Mountain, a Hudson palisade summit, rises just to the north of the mooring field.
History
The club was founded in 1909 by a group of local boating enthusiasts. It runs junior and adult sailing courses and weekly racing from May to October, and was home to the first Ideal 18 fleet on the Hudson.
