Approach and anchoring
Approach from the SW across the Golfe d'Ajaccio, rounding the citadel headland. Mixed seabed of sand and Posidonia; anchor on clear sand patches only, as the Posidonia meadows are protected. Shelter from NW, N and NE. Exposed to the libeccio from the SW. Port Tino Rossi at 0.4 NM to the NE is the nearest refuge.

Water available ashore. No fuel or electricity at anchor. All services and provisions in Ajaccio town centre, 300 m from Port Tino Rossi.
Ashore
Citadelle Miollis, built from 1492 by the Genoese and completed under Louis XV, stands directly above the mooring. Maison Bonaparte, birthplace of Napoleon in 1769, is at 400 m in the old town, rue Saint-Charles. Marché central on place Campinchi, 500 m, every morning except Monday.
History
Ajaccio was founded as a Genoese stronghold in 1492. It is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, born on 15 August 1769 in the Maison Bonaparte. The citadel served as a military site until 2005 and was transferred to the city in 2019.
