Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the marked Winyah Bay channel running up to Georgetown. Shoaling spreads off the bar, so sound your way in and keep clear of the channel edges. Tidal current runs hard through the estuary, strongest near the turn of the tide.
Practical
Open anchorage with no facilities. Sand bottom holds well. Sheltered from NE, W and SW, but exposed to the south and to wind against tide. Belle Isle Marina lies 7.8 miles NW and Georgetown Landing Marina 10.1 miles NW for fuel and provisioning.
