Approach and anchoring
Approach from the main lake on an easterly heading into Monty's Bay, a shallow inlet sheltered from the prevailing south-westerlies. Watch depths on the final approach, mooring field draught around 2 metres. Mooney Bay marina sits 2.4 NM south-east for an alternative, and North Hero village is 4.3 NM east across the lake on the Vermont side.
Practical
170 slips and 90 moorings, fuel dock with petrol and diesel, pump-out, water and electricity. Boat ramp, dry storage for summer and winter. Heated bathhouse, laundry, pool and convenience store. Reach the marina office on 518 846 7900.
Ashore
Monty's Bay Campsites adjoin the marina with 134 sites, a beach picnic area and the convenience store. Plattsburgh and its Lake Champlain Maritime Museum are 13 km south by road. The Vermont Islands ferry from Cumberland Head to Grand Isle runs 9 km south.
History
Gerard and Sally Bechard founded Monty's Bay Campsites in 1963 with 25 sites, a picnic area and a store. The family added Gilbert Brook Marina in 1991, and the business has grown into the current full-service operation.
